Empowering Girls, Changing Lives: EEN Foundation’s ‘Pad-a-Girl’ Project Marks International Women’s Day

In the spirit of International Women’s Day, the Education and Empowerment for the Needy (EEN) Foundation made a resounding impact with its ‘Pad-a-Girl’ project at Chibless Youngster Academy, Nigeria. With a mission to uplift young girls through education and empowerment, a team of three dedicated women from the foundation led an initiative that reached over 200 girls, equipping them with essential sanitary pads and invaluable knowledge about menstrual hygiene.

For many young girls in underprivileged communities, access to menstrual hygiene products remains a significant challenge. The stigma, misinformation, and lack of resources surrounding menstruation often lead to school absenteeism and a loss of confidence. Understanding this urgent need, EEN Foundation stepped forward with a goal—to ensure that no girl has to miss an opportunity to learn and grow because of her period.

The event at Chibless Youngster Academy was filled with warmth, education, and encouragement. The three-woman team engaged the girls in an interactive session where they debunked menstrual myths, discussed personal hygiene, and emphasized the importance of self-confidence. The atmosphere was electric with excitement as the young girls, some of whom had never received such guidance before, eagerly absorbed every word.

One of the most touching moments was a testimonial from a 14-year-old student, Mary, who shared how she often had to miss school due to a lack of sanitary products. With tears in her eyes, she expressed gratitude to the EEN Foundation, saying, “This means everything to me. Now I can focus on my studies without fear.”

Beyond distributing sanitary pads, the foundation instilled a sense of pride and self-worth in these young girls. They were reminded that menstruation is not a barrier but a natural process that should never limit their dreams.

As International Women’s Day celebrates gender equality and female empowerment, initiatives like ‘Pad-a-Girl’ stand as a beacon of hope and progress. EEN Foundation’s work continues to break barriers and uplift the next generation of women, ensuring that every girl, no matter her background, has the opportunity to thrive.

Through acts of kindness, education, and empowerment, the future is being rewritten—one girl at a time.
